Human naughts and crosses

Hi everyone!
Today at Enrich was fantastic! In the morning we started off with a Wilson game. The Wilson game was called Human naughts and crosses (Tic Tac Toe). If you want to know how to play here are the instructions:

You will need:
About 9 chairs ( depending on how many people are playing).
11 people playing.
What to do:
Get the chairs and set them up with 3 rows of three. Example:
Choose one of the 10 people to call out numbers.
Now everyone is not allowed to face the chairs.  They must look away.
Number the people. If there was ten, you would have half of them with a band on and the other half just as they are. Then you number the teams, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and the other half 1, 2, 3, 4, 5. Then you start. The person calls out a number - for example - 2! He/she might say. So both the number 2's run and takes a spot. The first team to get 3 in a row wins.
Bye,
Anna <3.

Waihopai River Planting

Hello!
Today at Enrich we went on a trip to the Waihopai River. We went there to plant some trees. We planted some trees so that all of the mud that used to be getting into the tracks will now not because the trees will block the way. It was also a good idea to plant them because when we get older we can always go and visit and see how much they've grown and if you had children you can say "When I was your age I went to a place called Enrich and we went on a trip with  the whole class and I planted some of these trees".  I was in a pair with my friend Neave that goes here with me and also goes to the same ballet as me. It took about 2 hours and we planted 250 plants! It was a bit tiring but eventually we got there! Also what was really good was that they provided us big juice boxes. We got 2 because we had one for morning tea/juice break and one for the way back to Enrich on the bus. Today was really fun.

I'm so excited to be back at Enrich!! In the morning we started with going over our slideshow for the airport. My group's idea was adding blackboards. So, I better tell you why we were going over it. It was because a lady called Chloe came in from the airport to see if it was good. She did some note-taking so she could talk about it with her boss. She said that all of our ideas were great. These are the airport groups we had: QR codes, which are codes that you scan on a smartphone, Iphone or ipad and then it takes you directly to a website, so it can be handy if your a tourist or something, and then it can take you to restaurant sites or motels/hotels and stuff like that. Black board, games and mural. She said That she loved all our ideas and she said with the QR codes that it's a REALLY good idea and also she said that where we had decided to put the blackboards was a really good place to put it because it is upstairs and out of the way of the cafe.

Last day of term.

Hey everyone!
I'm so sad that this is my last day at Enrich for another whole term. Anyway, to brighten up my day on Thursday I'm going to Australia! I'm so excited! We're staying at a place called San Mateo. Enough about my holiday though. This is about Enrich.  In the morning we did some chess and I was versing Reina. It's really hard to beat her though. I'm like 3rd from the bottom! I suck at chess! Anyway, as always she beat me. Then we did some passion time. Pearl and I were doing wearable arts. We were working together at first, but decided to split up. It's still going to be fun though because we're modeling each others. My one is called "The unknown" and Pearl's is called "The outdoor lady".

Then We did something about the environment. Here is some of a story that Darryn read:

Being Green

Checking out at the store, the young cashier suggested to the older woman, that she should bring her own grocery bags because plastic bags weren't good for the environment.

The woman apologized and explained, "We didn't have
this green thing back in my earlier days."

The young clerk responded, "That's our problem today. Your generation did not care enough to save our environment for
future generations."
She was right -- our generation didn't have the green thing in its day.

Back then, we returned milk bottles, soda bottles and beer bottles to the store. The store sent them back to the plant to be washed and sterilized and refilled, so it could use the same bottles over and over. So they really were truely recycled.

See you next term,
Anna.

Top 10 most polluted cities in the world

Hi again,
Today Enrich was awesome!
After morning tea we watched a video about the most and least polluted cities in the world. It was some interesting news.
10: Kampour, India
9: Yasouj, Iran
8: Gaberone, Botswana
7: Peshawar, Pakistan
6: Kermanshah, Iran
5: Quetta, Pakistan
4: Ludhiana, India
3:Sanadaj, Iran
2:Ulanbataar, Mongolia
1: Ahwaz, Iran.
PRETTY SCARY! But the good news is that the least polluted city in the world is (drumroll please)....... WELLINGTON! IN NZ!
Bye,
Anna.

Hi Anna,

You worked hard on your environment project today.  It was great to see that once you had organised with your group what you needed to do, you managed your time to get those tasks done.  Hopefully we can get the proposal finished next week! You are learning to identify what needs to be done in order to complete a project, and then work your way to completion.  It is a hard skill to master!

Environment

Hi again!
Today at Enrich was soooo fun!
After play we started talking about the environment. We watched a movie about the environment and it was so sad because we saw some very sad photos and there was also some photos about animals that were almost extinct.
It was really yuck because there was a pipe with green chunky stuff coming out! Gross! Most of the people thought it was sewage but we didn't even want to know. Well at least I didn't want to know! If you really want to watch the video then you can watch it right now. Be careful because I almost burst into tears! (Nature lovers will almost scream I think!)

If you do want to watch it then go onto YouTube and search up "Water pollution" and you should see some results. Here are some photos.  (So sad.... =( )

Hi again!
Today at enrich we did high interest stations.
I did physics again and we had to make a parachute. The goal was to : Make sure the egg didn't have any cracks in it.
And try to make your's go down the slowest.
It was fun and hard though because you had a time limit of 25 minutes and that was also part of the fun. It may seem that you have plenty of time to make your parachute but it's actually really hard. We all started panicking and worrying that we wouldn't have enough time to complete it but we all did get it done but at the end of our time it was just fixing up the string and tape and just making the last minute changes. The materials we got to use were:

  • 1 plastic cup
  • Unlimited amount of tape
  • 4 balloons
  • Card board
  • Scissors
  • Unlimited amount of skewers
  • 4 plastic bags
  • White card
  • News paper
  • Egg of course!
We got to put it in any order we like so we didn't all have to do it
in the same order.
It was a REALLY fun day at Enrich today.
Adios,
Anna. =)

Monday 13 August 2012

Hi again!
Today at enrich we did debating, story writing or P4C.
I chose to do debating. The subject was: should kids under 18 be allowed a facebook.
I was in the opposing team saying "I think kids under 18 shouldn't be allowed to have a facebook".
We were split up into two teams. "Girls against boys!" so we had in the girls team: Mia, Pearl, Kaitlyn, Kate and me. Kaitlyn was the team leader so that means she has to introduce our team and say something like "Hi, I'm Kaitlyn from the opposing team and we think kids under 18 shouldn't be allowed a facebook".
I put in for my reason "I think they shouldn't be allowed on facebook because some random person could ask a little kid who doesn't know what they're doing"What's your address" or "Where do you live?".So they shouldn't be allowed on facebook.
Anyway, our team won! It was my second time in a row I won!

Anna :)

Hello Again!
Today at enrich was a blast!
About after play we went and did high interest stations.
I did chemistry and I was making Elephant toothpaste.
We had to put Yeast to make it rise (like how bread rises).
If you wanted to make it colourful you put about two drops of food colouring.
If you wanted to make purple and you only had red and blue you put two drops of each colour and that will make a purple. With the yeast you put about three dessert spoons of water and then mix until liquid or clay.you also had to put hydrodyen peroxide in it.
Once you put that in you had to put soap in it.
Then you put the yeast into your tube of all the other ingredients  and then "POOF!"The tube goes like hot foam everywhere!but DON'T touch it.
Adios,

Anna :)

This is what it will turn out like.

Murals!

Today at Enrich we had a blast!
In the morning we had to make a rough copy of a mural that might be an idea for an environment project.
We got into groups of four and then Darryn showed us some pictures. The pictures Darryn showed us were some New Zealand icons. For an example like some kiwis and stuff like that.
This was just a rough copy though. We stuck some printed icons on, we drew stuff with crayons, felt pens...and then we were finished! But there was a little trick to this. We couldn't leave any blank spaces on it and we had to do it in 20 minutes! Uh oh! Anyway, we did it!
Today was a very fun day!
Adios,
Anna.

Term 2 Assessment

Today at Enrich, we had to do a self-assessment about our whole term.  It was quite hard because there were a lot of questions and it took a bit of time to work out how to finish the sentence.

Monday 4 June 2012

Today at Enrich we did Kowaiwai panels!!!
We had to draw it in our books then we had to copy it on to a panel.
Then we had to get into groups of three and we started sketching it on to the panels.
Some Maori people like  to paint them on their houses!
It was so fun today but with the Kowaiwai panels I had to do layers and layers of paint!
Adios,
Anna Morris.

Monday 19 March 2012

Hi again.
Today I was doing debating. Hannnah, Madison and I were in a group and our topic was why animals should be kept in cages.  For example "Animals should be kept in cages because they might get lost, ran over, or hurt." The other group's side was why animals should NOT be kept in cages.  We were working on thinking about different people's perspectives. I really enjoyed it.
Adios,Anna.
